Children aged 6 months to 4 years old in a clinical risk group are now being offered two infant doses of the COVID-19 vaccination 8 weeks apart. Children at serious risk from the complications of COVID-19 infection include:

  • those with severe neurodisabilities
  • those whose immune systems don’t work as well (immunosuppression)
  • those with profound and multiple or severe learning disabilities (including Down’s syndrome), and those on the learning disability register
  • those with long term serious conditions affecting their health.

Ahead of World Breastfeeding Week on Tuesday 1 August, the PHA is highlighting the importance of supporting breastfeeding mothers at every stage of their journey by showcasing the experience of breastfeeding mums and speaking to those who have supported them on their journey.

In the new video series, PHA speaks to five breastfeeding mothers and their support network to share their experience and discuss what helped them continue breastfeeding for longer.

Concerned about hepatitis? Get tested for free on World Hepatitis Day

Ahead of World Hepatitis Day (Friday 28 July), the PHA is reminding us that anyone can be at risk of hepatitis, as latest statistics show that there were 122 new cases of hepatitis B and 191 new cases of hepatitis C diagnosed here in 2022.*
