Sunscreen and Sun Safety

Advice for adults and children on sunscreen and sun safety in the UK and abroad

Sunburn increases your risk of skin cancer. Sunburn does not just happen on holiday. You can burn in the UK, even when it’s cloudy. There’s no safe or healthy way to get a tan. A tan does not protect your skin from the sun’s harmful effects. Aim to strike a balance between protecting yourself from the sun and getting enough vitamin D from sunlight.

Sun Safety Tips:

Spend time in the shade when the sun is strongest. In the UK, this is between 11:00am and 3:00pm from March to October.

Make sure you:

  • never burn
  • cover up with suitable clothing and sunglasses
  • take extra care with children
  • use at least factor 30 sunscreen

Patient Feedback

I just wanted to express my thanks and gratitude for all the great work carried out by your surgery, addressing all my medical needs.

I think the scriptures explain a lot when it states: ” A labourer is worthy of his hire” (Luke 10:7), however in the case of Meadowbridge Surgery, the labourers deserve more praise, because as an NHS Surgery the treatment received is that of what many pay exceptional amounts for in Private Hospitals. The care and attention including call backs demonstrates a Surgery that really cares for its patients.

I hope in writing this it will encourage you to believe that you’re really a wonderful bunch to have as a Surgery both in the professional capacity and as supportive friends.

Once again be encouraged that you are wonderful people and are cherished by myself and my wife or all that you do for us and others.

Bank Holiday Closure

The surgery will be closed on Monday 14th July 2025, and will operate an emergency only service on Tuesday 15th July 2025.

For urgent medical attention, please contact Dalriada Out of Hours Service on
